Fuji Climb - Part 3

Michael on Fuji. He bought a wooden walking stick - at each station you can pay to get a brand on the stick to show you were there. We already have hiking sticks that we use, so he carried his Fuji walking stick on his backpack. With the flag on the end, he was like our unofficial line leader.
Teresa on Fuji.

The hike down - this is a great example of the hoards that descend on Fuji every weekend.

The path is gravely and the soil is loose. It leads to a lot of slipping down the slope and tons of dust. We were pretty dirty by the time we made it to the bottom.

Because the soil is so loose, there are signs all over warning about falling rocks.

View of the summit from Station 5.

We left the summit after sunrise and made it back down to Station 5 by 8am - and crashed until it was time for the bus back to Tokyo.
