Sunset from Oshima
After hiking Mt. Mihara, we went to an onsen (hot springs) on a cliff overlooking the ocean. It was facing west, so we had a beautiful view of the sunset. On the photo below you can see the onsen building on the right hand side.
After sunset, we had a traditional Japanese dinner at our inn. Oshima is known for fresh seafood, and our dinner did not disappoint. Here they cooked sea snails in front of us.
The whole dinner was 11 courses, and we left completely stuffed!
Sunday we headed out to see the "Strata" - there is a point on the road where you can see how the island has been built up over the years along the cliffs.
We stopped in Habuminato - a sleepy fishing village - for a taste of old-time Japan,
and walked the black sand beaches.
We were back in Tokyo by Sunday night and had Monday to "recuperate" from our vacation!
