Silver Week - Food

Grilled oysters on Miyajima.
Make-your-own Okonomiyaki in Hiroshima. In the interest of full disclosure - if we had been left to actually make this all on our own, we would have been up a creek. Our very nice waiter actually stood at our table making these for us.

Okonomiyaki is a cross between a pizza and a crepe - you make a pancake/crepe on the griddle, and then top it with cabbage, bean sprouts, seafood, noodles (if you make it Hiroshima style), and an egg.

As luck would have it, our last day in Hiroshima was "Happiness Day" at the local Haagen Dazs - meaning 7 flavors for 500 Yen. We got coffee, mocha, Belgian chocolate, praline, raspberry cream, rich milk and banana chocolate cookie.
