As some of you already know, we are the proud renters of a truly high-tech toilet. It not only automatically senses when you enter the bathroom and lifts the lid, it also automatically senses when you sit on the toilet and releases a little stream of deodorant into the bowl, which doubles as a little "tinkle" sound to help you pee. After you have done your duty, there is a control panel on the wall that will help you choose from one of several self-cleaning options. Ladies - you can see the special pink option just for you on the far right.
(This panel can also be used to program the toilet to heat the seat and adjust the strength of any cleaning spray.)
Needless to say, I hate this toilet. It drives me to distraction that the dang lid goes up every time I go into the bathroom to get a tissue. I cannot relax to pee when it is doing its little tinkle tinkle thing. The idea of a warm toilet seat totally grosses me out. And this is after Michael has already fooled around with it and turned off all the other automatic functions that we can figure out how to get rid of. One day maybe I will fool around with the "cleaning" functions, but not anytime soon. Seriously, if I were confident that the thing would still flush, I would just unplug it from the wall. OF COURSE it has an automatic flush, so my newest phobia is that Michael and I will go around leaving all non-fancy toilets unflushed when we leave Japan.

I love our toilet and the heated seat. You might appreciate it more in the wintertime. But ours doesn't open and shut on its own or deodorize. Alas.
