Our last day in Kyoto we headed up to the Imperial Palace grounds. I have heard that foreigners can actually get an appointment to enter the Imperial Palace, but we didn't plan that far ahead, so we just enjoyed the gardens. This is a picture of the outer wall.

Around lunch time we headed back to Kyoto station and took the train to Hakone. I booked a traditional Japanese inn with it's own onsen (hot springs) for us in Hakone, so Mom and I relaxed in the hot baths that evening. Here is the Mama in her yukata - purple is her color!
